Workshop

Founded in 1992 by Newcastle born Rolex specialist Watchmaker Chris Rowell. The Watch Repair Centres first branch was within the prestigious Metro Centre Development (Gateshead), three miles from Newcastle. Dedicated to providing direct access to expert technicians, without dealing with untrained sales persons in high street jewellers, the Watch Repair Centre soon opened branches within Eldon Square shopping centre Newcastle and in Middlesbrough, Hartlepool and Glenrothes, Fife (north of Edinburgh).

 

To support the Watch Repair Centres growing branch network a modern state of art workshop facility was opened in Newcastle city centre. Boasting the latest pressure testing, cleaning and electronic timeing equipment the Newcastle workshop allowed the Watch Repair Centre group to deliver an unrivalled level of service and expertees directly to the customer. Recently we were proud to gain the status of “Omega Service Centre”

 

Headed by a second Rolex specialist watchmaker, a Rolex specialist watchmaker of over 30 years, and with a staff of watchmakers and technical staff the Watch Repair Centre group can now boast of having the regions premier watch repairing facility. Ultrasonic cleaning machine

The dismantled components of your watch are cleaned in specially formulated solutions. This machine is one of the most advanced available. Using ultrasonic waves and a cleaning solution ensures an industry leading quality of finish.

Condensation testing machine

This equipment was supplied to us directly by Rolex UK. Your watch case is cooled and heated to a precise temperature for a specific time. Vapour deposited on the glass and how long it takes to disperse provides information to the watchmaker as to the integrity of the case seals

A watch case is submerged and subjected to a vacuum. A watchmaker can asses the condition of the watch seal by the results seen.

Variable speed polishing machine.

Various mops and compounds are used to re-finish your watch case and bracelet. This process alone can take some hours to complete.

Your watch case and bracelet are submerged in cleaning solution where ultra sonic waves ensure any deposits are removed. Attention to detail in the cleaning of your watch case is vital as it will house the serviced movement.

Glass cutting machine

Your watchmaker can make a cast of the watch case needing a new glass. From this cast a duplicate glass can be cut to fit exactly.

Electroplating machine

Electronic timing and testing machine

This ultra sensitive piece of equipment provides your watchmaker with a host of vital data. The amplitude, beat and rate in multiple positions are shown, allowing detailed alterations, regulations and diagnosis to be made. An essential piece of equipment.

Depth presure testing machine

Allows your watchmaker to submit a watch case to a simulated depth of 400m (40bar). This piece of equipment enables your watchmaker to test watches rated to ultra deep depths in particular we will use this devise when testing the likes of Rolex Submariners and other ultra deep sports watches.
